The catch bug happened to me too, where you catch a pokemon and then get an instant encounter that softlocks the game, I just saved everytime I caught anything after that.
There is a small bug on the character selection screen. If I move over to select May it will not let me move back over to Brendan. A simple fix is just selecting May then saying "No" after you are asked if this is what I looked like. Then it resets to hovering over Brendan.
I just noticed that if you go to the main menu after having gotten pokemon, your pokemon show up on the title screen! That is so cool! Fantastic idea and it looks freaking AMAZING!!!
Another little bug i found. I went AFK for around 40 minutes, came back, healed my pokemon at the bust stop, and suddenly all of my pokemon have the sprite of treeko, the battle sprite of bellossom, and are all named button text. I don't know if going AFK caused this or healing my pokemon did. Doing a quick soft lock reload fixed the issue and healing my pokemon after doing so didn't cause the issue to occur again.
Had this same issue, although it was only my starter. I had to step away from my pc for a minute and then saved & went to fight a wild pokemon in the grass but nothing came out. When I checked my pokemon it was exactly how you described
had this same thing happen, but it was after closing the game out and coming back to it after like an hour. Did nothing between saving, exiting the game, reloading the game, and seeing my pokemon were all replaced with this
I cannot even start the game, it freeze after the "New Game" button with a error "ERROR: pure virtual function being called while application was running (glsrunning == 1)". And, at least in the menu, i can't manage to use the PS4 controller althouth windows recognize it. It's pity, hope that this problem will be fix soon.

Awesome game been waiting ever since I first came across it on youtube/tiktok. It is a demo, so, there are a lot of bugs but that is where us users can help out. I came across bounce not being used after the first animation. I just came across text button error where my Pokemon no longer exist, so I might have to completely restart. I found myself stuck a lot during/after some battles so I would have to soft reset. Overall the prospects are high so awesome job making the game solo! Also, wish shiny rates were lower since its a demo xD. Hope to see nice improvements in due time! Fighting!

I've played it for just an hour and I found it very nice, especially graphically speaking. So far I've encountered two bugs several times: sometimes the pokemon animation comes out, the pokemon doesn't come out, thus blocking the game itself, and the first dialogue of the henchman of the hydro team gets stuck. I'll keep an eye on this game because a pokemon with the graphics of Cassette Beasts is a little dream come true, after the last terrible disappointments of Game Freak.
Found out that after a battle in the Blooming Forest cave puzzle area, ground items will respawn but only get counted once, you can use them multiple times still and get into negative of that item.
Another bug, if you use Belly Drum your ATK stat will stay boosted outside of battle and carry over to the next until you heal at a tent.
so pretty and so fun, and obvs theres gonna be bugs, but i'd like to say what they are so you know bout them! the main one is after getting my torchic, i clicked "let out" and let them run behind me, but i can't find a way to put them back. they aren't in my party, pc, or anything else, and they won't fight in battles. i also fainted a psyduck and then immediately, before walking, encountered the same psyduck. also where is the delibird thing?
i just loaded the game without saving to see if i could fix the torchic issue, and instead theres a pokemon called bottom text, i can't click on it it just shows my beldum, and the small picture is of treecko and bellosom on the right
Hi, Im forever stuck at the Rhydon fight (The trainer thats ment to drop Rock Smash) with no way to progress due to the trainer just not dropping anything / freezing the game causing me to restart the game. I've beaten the trainer multiple times but with no luck again due to the glitch mentioned before. Any help on how to fix. (really dont want to start again) VERSION 40 - DEMO v2.1.0.1
I absolutely cannot start the game. It loads the home screen and the controller screen for a better experience, then freezes and closes the game. I tried using the administrator, but nothing. How sad! I was really looking forward to trying this demo. I hope the compatibility issue is resolved soon
Found a small bug: i opened the menu and went into the options and changed the color and when i got out of said menu, my bag was permanently opened. I could still move around and open the menu again, but the bag overlay was always there. soft lock reloading fixed the issue.
Hello, I tried using the Switch Pro Controller (Bluetooth and USB), the Joycons (Bluetooth) and the PS5 Controller (USB) and they were all not recognized.
Additionnally, I get the "ERROR: pure virtual function being called while application was running (glsrunning == 1)", I tried running the game as admin, and i'm not playing on an HDD Drive.

I found some glitches, you can somehow get offset 1/2 a tile and just walk through the boulder objects instead of having to use strength and push them. In Blooming Forest, if you mash through trainer text you can talk to them again and start 3 battles against the same trainer at once.
So far so good, just wanted to report a couple bugs and add an idea for a toggle
-Battles break, whole elements of the UI will just disappear rendering the game unplayable
-Move PP will just stop draining on moves like Thunderbolt
-Each scene has its own settings, so the menu, overworld, and battles do not share settings so volume has to be set manually for each except you can't manually set it in battles since you can't access the options here
-Finally, The DOF is over the top, things don't need to be THAT blurry. I would like a toggle to turn it off so I can see everything in its pixelart glory.
I wish modern Pokemon games would look like that. For a demo and a "fan"-project this is incredibly good! Of course there are many bugs but I'm very much looking forward to further updates!
The major bugs I encountered:
Pokemon sprites disappearing in battle
Game crashing when starting a battle or encountering a Pokemon
The movement is a bit clunky, especially with controller
Suggestions:
The visuals are stunning, but the motion blur or "bloom" is pretty intense - things that are close to the character are sharp but the rest is weirdly blurry
Changing the resolution, framerate and switching between fullscreen/windowed would be great
The art-style and the whole concept of this game is awesome. The fights feel fast, the attacks look great and the fact that you can walk with your Pokemon is extremely cute. In my opinion, Scarlet & Violet look like literal trash compared to this.
How did you even get a controller to work!??? None of my controllers work, not the pro controller, not joycons, even though joy con controlers are shown, which is pretty odd
Crashes happened when I customised some settings in the menu before pressing new game. Specifically text speed, nicknames and the color wheel at the bottom. I was also locked into fullscreen and was unable to open task master.
Perhaps you could prioritise making the game run in windowed mode so that it is easier to hard reset the game.
Problem: When I saved the game, Treecko disappeared from my team, and when I entered battle, the Pokémon became invisible. The save file was already corrupted, so I couldn't continue, so I started from scratch.
Using a joystick stutter or completely stop movement randomly. This issue doesn't exist when using the D-pad for movement.
Second, these tiles seem to have a 100% encounter rate when you try to walk into them from the left side only. The sprite stays on the current tile though.
plenty of bugs but the game is gorgeous. Just the thing that bothered me is that gameplay is a bit slow. put a setting to set gameplay speed at 1.5, 2x.
love the move animations but grunts i faced had to walk till they hit a wall, but its a small issue thanks for the demo hope to see the full game soon! :D

I just downloaded the game and when i logged in the the window did not fit my screen. Is there anyway to adjust the window size?
Bugs so far (I played for 40 min)
1. As soon as I got Beldum, my starter disappeared
2. Cascoon actually evolves into Beautifly when you check the party after evolution sequence shows Dustox.
3. The volume changes by itself.
4. I caught a shiny Psyduck in a shimmer ball and then was stuck in the same spot, forced me into battles with nothing

Bug report: Choosing Torchick will result in being given a pokemon with no stats. resulting in the game getting stuck on your first pokemon encounter
I picked Torchic and didn't encounter this.
Post-Credits bug where "Hall-of-Fame" sequence doesn't play and softlocks you on this screen. Soft resetting and watching the credits again fixed it.

Currently unable to load the game when pressing new game. Pure virtual function being called at line 439.
Go into "Windows" folder, then PokemonEmerald folder, then Binaries, Win64 and run as administrator PokemonEmerald.exe. It worked for me.

seems like ps5 aswell as a switch pro controller (wireless and wired) dont work, neither in menues or ingame

There seems to be an issue with the collision box of this wall here, allowing you to walk through and be behind the walls.

What I found works is to place all other pokemon in the PC and just have 1 on your team.

every time i hit new game it just crashes tried about 4 or 5 times now and still cant play the game...
Try reinstalling, running as admin, etc.
Done all of that still don't work.

yes you can soft reset for shinies, you can read more in the development log

Right click the .zip file, select "Extract All..."
Open the folder, click the Windows folder
Right click PokemonEmerald.exe and select "Run as administrator"
