A pokemon can have multiple instances of the same attack as can be seen here. The second instance he learned mid battle and can also be used normally.Apparently, if one checks a pokemon's stats mid battle this can happen. This is the mid battle stats window immediately after the battle. This window persisted through the rest of the battle and after. Not even I know how I got it to go away.
Anyone know the reason for the immediate wild pokemon encounter when walking in grass? As soon as I take a step, a turn or any movement in grass, It's an immediate encounter.
Answers? none. Solutions? 1. I like to press and hold a motion while in loading transition from battle. Moves your character before any instant fights can occur.
Im getting these 2 errors when i try to start a new game then it crashes - Pure virtual function being called while application was running (GIsRunning == 1). -
LowLevelFatalError [File:D:\build\++UE5\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\Core\Private\Windows\WindowsPlatformMisc.cpp] [Line: 439] Pure virtual function being called
I'm absolutely blown away, and I can't wait to play the completed experience. So far though, there are 2 things I would like changed. The white flash before a battle is very sudden and brutal. Not comfortable, even for me who doesn't suffer from any kind of photosensitivity. The second is that sprinting feels quite sluggish, at least compared to the original emerald. I'm not sure if I'm remembering wrong but I believe Pokemon Emerald's movement is much more snappy, and this felt distractingly sluggish. Awesome work though. I love this.
Is it possibile to evolve Rhydon through level up or is there a protector available somewhere in the game? Also it feels weird that pokemon basically stop learning moves after they leveled over a certain number...

run at low res and turn off depth of field, i can't seem to limit frames through nvidia, that's one thing that will tank performance because it's running native unlocked frames
In case anybody wants to run this game on Steam Deck, here's what worked for me.

I have no idea why, but every time I try and launch the game, even through itch launcher, I get a "Fatal error!" message and the game closes. I haven't been able to open the game once. I have tried disabling virus protection to see if that would resolve my issues but it didn't work. Would love any ideas
Hi there. I’ve been stuck for the past week and a half, despite uninstalling and reinstalling. Today, I decided to do a full thorough sweep, and found a dedicated folder in C:\Users<user>\AppData\Local. I deleted it and installed the game again, and I was able to start a new game without fatal error.
Hope this helps!
Pro tip: as the game is in development, I would avoid getting too attached to any save file as they may get corrupted or unrecognized in newer versions.
Love it, although the bugs are very game breaking. I just got stuck in a battle, not sure what's happening but no buttons do anything and it's just stuck in the idle animation loop. I know I should save more in a demo like this but man I'll have to replay a decent amount and that just sucks.
It looks fantastic but it is virtually unplayable in its current state. I kept running into many bugs, which of course is expected in the pre-release state. But some of them are quite game-breaking.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= GAME BREAKING =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1. Grass Encounters. No Repels are available in the store, and any time I try to walk through grass, especially when walking [right], the encounter rate is 100% and the player cannot move from the tile. So literally I cannot progress past the first location with the shop.
2. The shop interface itself is quite bad. I don't mean that to be [aggressive?], but the shop interface requires multiple presses just to buy one item, if you want to buy different items it's quite tedious. On multiple occasions I got locked into the shop, unable to exit, forcing me to reset the game.
3. The input for my controller conflicts with the keyboard constantly. I'm using DS4 Windows + PS5 controller. It works fine most of the time, but sometimes the game resets it's priority as the topmost window, which forces the mouse cursor to the middle of screen, which causes the conflict. I'm not sure if a menu navigation is causing it or, the game resetting the priority as topmost window, but that's my guess as I've seen that behavior with projects I've coded before. -> This is probably on my end now that I'm looking at it more closely.
4. Astonish caused the entire game to freeze up when used in a trainer battle. Specifically Beldum vs Pikachu #2 on Team Magma Grunt near the station.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= MINOR =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1. So far in my adventure there's no way to heal your Pokémon without items. So I'm unable to get more PP for any of my moves. I understand there probably is a way later, but right now, being unable to leave the area, I'm stuck with whatever moves I have or buy from the shop. -> This was indeed my mistake and I didn't know the tent was a Pokécenter until it was pointed out.
2. You haven't added logic [or it's not working] to prevent Pokémon from learning the same move more than once. This isn't a huge deal on it's own. It's a little silly and doesn't make much sense, but Missingno. in Gen I had two Water Gun attacks, so it just reminded me of that. But the issue here is that if you use one of those moves, both will lose PP. So it's possible for one of them to have a negative value due to using the second move with 0 [or less] PP on the first move.
3. There are quite a few typos already. There are typos on some of the trainers and there is a typo in one of the Pokémon follower scripts.
4. Items sometimes cannot be used outside of battle (e.g. Potions) until either a battle is completed or an item is used in battle (haven't tested which).
5. Water should be "not very effective" [0.5x effective] against grass, but it hits for normal damage.
6. All Pokémon can learn any TM (even duplicates).
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= SUGGESTIONS (NOT BUGS) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Note: Keep in mind I am currently unable to proceed past the first area so I do understand that some or all of these might already be implemented in some way, shape or form.
1. Re-Battle Trainers: I'd like to see a method for re-battling trainers. I'm sure you have one planned or maybe even integrated already, but it might just be easier to include rematch scripts on the trainers themselves, and have them request a rematch when talking to them again (versus using a V.S. Seeker or similar). You can add flags and such to make the trainers stronger after certain milestones are met.
2. Re-usable TM's. I do like the current shop function. But having TM's as unique items hidden throughout the world feels more meaningful than having them as a consumable item in the shop. Furthermore, it promotes adventure and searching every nook and cranny. A TM of every move in the game (while tedious) would be unique and cool.
3. HM's. I don't know if you're planning on making HM slave Pokémon or if you will use items, but I definitely think the latter would be nice (surfboard, PokéSaw [lol], etc.)
Might come back and edit this or repost and add more later. It's a bit long, but I really like the project so far. Super cool. :)
Not sure if you'll see this but i was also struggling with walking to the right and having a 100% encounter chance, however I found that as soon as you run or beat the wild pokemon, hold right on your d-pad (or joystick), you should be able to make it off the tile you were on before the next encounter hits. That way you can (albeit slowly) make it to the next area. Hopefully it works for you!
I full odds shiny hunt in all 8192 games regularly. Mostly in gen 3. So I’m not unfamiliar with going thousands of encounters without a shiny. I’m currently double over odds for a shiny in the first area of the game. Got an auto counter running. I am scared because this is a demo something is bugged or if this is just typical hunting as usual. Not uncommon to go triple over odds but just wanted to know if other people have found fast full odds shinies in this game? In the first area specifically
lol. Not even a half hour after I posted this shiny lotad appeared. I guess that answers my question. 4345 encounters. Love that you can hunt in this. Some people have said why waste time hunting in a non official game. But all shinies are just pixels. Still just as hyped to find lotad as I am to get an official shiny
"Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running. Exiting..." - when do you believe this can be fixed? Was able to play it, now not haha!
Just a suggestion, would love that when a pokemon is learning a new move, that you can see the details of that new move and current moves a pokemon has learned already. Loving the game so far! Its beautiful. :)) But what is really annoying me is how I am going against level 20+ enemies when mine are only around level 12 :(( its only the beginning of the game too
I am trying to transfer my save file over to the updated version but for some reason it won't load my save. I have both old and new folders on my desktop and assumed it would be an easy carryover as it has been before. I also copied the entire save folder from the previous version and replaced the one on the new version to see if that helped, but nothing.
Tried to play this game, Can't get passed the loading screen. Controller was not working, even with DS4 Windows. Settings were NOT saving. I was so excited to play cause Emerald is my all time favorite game but this is literally so unplayable. I am so disappointed and sad this game does not work. Haven't seen anyone but maybe 2 or 3 people who actually was able to play but they keep having issues too. Guess I'll just delete this game. :(
Why cant i change settings from the options menu? I try to change the quality to medium instead of High but when i leave the options menu and go back in it keeps on high... Can someone help please?
I'm excited to play more of this game, it's beautiful! Therefore, I'd be happy to let you know about the bugs I've encountered so far. All of these, I've experienced up until just making it to the Ashen forest, before beating the first grunt. In general there are about 5 in total, with the last one being a bit huge. I apologize in advance for the yapping, I just feel I should be as detailed as I can for explaining what and how this bugs occurred.
1. I'm unsure if it's the spawn rate itself or something else. But Pokemon will spawn in the grass as soon as you input movement and before your character moves. The only way I've been able to leave the grass when this happens is holding B and starting to run directly after a battle with a wild pokemon before the blacked out screen transition even ends.
2. The It happened twice, but I got stuck in the Delibird shop. It would not let me leave. I was held at bag-point by a virtual Delibird...
3. I noticed that sometimes when I attacked in a battle (trainer and wild), It would get stuck and the opposing pokemon would not attack. It happened a few times and I eventually found a common denominator later while trying to catch a certain pokemon (more on that later). It only happens when using Beldum's/Metang's Astonish. I'm unsure if it is only that specific pokemon or if it happens with the move in general.
4. Alright, now to the nitty griddy that unfortunately made the game unplayable and forced me to stop for now. First in the area right before the Ashen forest, directly after that bridge-over-water area, I was searching to see what pokemon could be found there. Lo' and behold, I find a wild Mudkip! That's the pokemon I was trying to catch and I assume this is on purpose and a rare spawn. While trying to catch it and soft resetting several times (because of the aforementioned Astonish bug), I eventually realized that i could no longer walk in the up direction. I could go side to side and walk down, but as soon as I walk down, I could no longer walk upwards. Since I only had to go right and down to the Ashen Forest, I pressed on anyway- which leads to the biggest bug I encountered.
5. Once in the Ashen Forest I, of course, had to go up eventually. And no amount of soft resetting fixed it. So before shutting down the entire program, I opted to just return to the title screen first to see if it fixed it. Once on the title screen, I saw your really cool feature of seeing your team stand with you while facing Rayquaza... unfortunately I noticed that a team member was missing. At this point I had a team of 4: Grovyle, Metang, Kirlia, and a new Marshtomp. On the title screen, Kirlia was missing. I just thought it was another minor bug so I didn't think much of it and dove back into the game. Sadly just going back to title didn't fix the walking bug... AND I found out that Kirlia was legitimately missing. In my party it was replaced by a Treeko sprite named "No Name" and its HP bar was reading 0/0. Along with that, my Marshtomp which was level 17, was now at level 1 and it had absolutely no moves. I immediately decided not to save and instead shutdown the program. Once I reopened it the walking bug was fixed, but the pokemon problem was not. Kirla was still gone and replaced in the manor that I said, and Marshtomp was still level one. I opened the PC to see if I could move the... "Kirlia" (Now No Name Treeko) and it did not show up. When I tried to back out of the PC, the game crashed. I reopen it again and the Kirlia/Treeko is completely gone, and I accepted the it has been banished to the shadow realm. Afterwards I catch a Vulpix (Marshtomp still is lvl 1 and has nothing so I had to swtich to another pokemon). When I tried to battle a trainer and see if Marshtomp would gain some experience from the Experience share, the game crashed after my Grovyle defeated a Pokemon. It was at that point that I decided that it was time to call it a day.
I've started the game around 1 hour ago, and until now I notice these bug/problem (I hope to help you in this way): - the movement of the player is stuck until the key is pressed (usually in the original one they count the last key movement so if I'm going left and then I click down, the character will go down even if I'm still pressing left)
- Deliberd shop, if you try to click many times esc to left the page shop, there are a overlayer of the same animation of closure shop
- With the option "share xp" deactivated, when I started with a pokemon and then change with another one, only the first pokemon get the xp and not both split, and even after you defeat the enemy pokemon, the other rounds battle still give the xp at the first pokemon without comeback in the fight
Hope this comment could help and in case I can try to find other problems
So I save like right before reading the letter that opens the suitcase then I check if it's shiny and if not I hit start and run and it reloads I read the letter and check again and repeat until it's shiney? Or do I have to start a new save and run from the beach every time to check?
I can't get passed the opening cutscene. I get the "pure virtual function called while application was running" error. I believe it's supposed to be the opening scene but it force closes after that.

gameplay is decent so far other than those issues so far

The tent behind the deli bird mailbox is a poke center and it works.

how? just by starting over and over?
yes just check if not shiny than restart by pressing start (menu) + B (Run)
Do you save before or after the suit as is opened?
Before !!! If you opened the suit before. you can't save if you pick a starter then is it to late
So I save like right before reading the letter that opens the suitcase then I check if it's shiny and if not I hit start and run and it reloads I read the letter and check again and repeat until it's shiney? Or do I have to start a new save and run from the beach every time to check?
Cant even load past the black screen after pressing "new game"
I can't get passed the opening cutscene. I get the "pure virtual function called while application was running" error. I believe it's supposed to be the opening scene but it force closes after that.
Nobody use bounce it messes up the battle completely
oe que fue por que mi partida no sale para jugar y en su lugar dice nueva partida
My save got wiped :(
In the menu configurations, i dont see the apply updates, and some configs not saved cause that.
I dunno where's like a bug forum, but I'll just quickly say that someone made a spelling mistake at the Mystery Gift menu :3
So excited to see this grow! It looks awesome.
