Cannot start a new game. crashes with

I have tried running it as administrator but that did not resolve the issue. I have tried countless times with the same results unfortunately

The game may crash with LowLevelFatalError or pure virtual function errors, especially during mandatory battles. I think the problem is poor memory management and heavy graphics load for some GPUs. I used chatgpt for help and I found this fix:

1. Lower graphics quality manually

Open GameUserSettings.ini in:C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\PokemonEmerald\Saved\Config\Windows

Edit the file and set:
ResolutionSizeX=1280 (or yours)

ResolutionSizeY=720 (or yours)

FullscreenMode=1

sg.ResolutionQuality=70.000000

sg.ViewDistanceQuality=1

sg.AntiAliasingQuality=1

sg.ShadowQuality=1

sg.PostProcessQuality=1

sg.TextureQuality=1

sg.EffectsQuality=1

sg.FoliageQuality=1

bUseVSync=False

 Set the file to Read-only

Right-click → Properties → Tick Read-only.

This helps, but doesn’t fully stop the game from forcing settings.

Turn off background GPU-heavy apps

Pause Wallpaper Engine, Discord Overlay, Steam Overlay, etc.

4. Avoid opening the Pokémon stats window during battles

It can bug the UI and freeze the screen.

5. If you still crash

Delete your save file (Slot1.sav) and start fresh.

The game has an incredible potential, but in its current state it's an unenjoyable experience. Hope feedback is well received <3

PROS

+ Incredible artstyle

+ Juicy combat experience

+ Original story and game design


CONS

+ Level design: Unnecessary long routes with lack of content, landmarks and excessive branching

+ Unbalanced combat experience: Extremely fast leveling, early legendary exclusive moves TM for cheap price, final evolution pokemon accesible at first areas, many trainers without interesting strategies. (I ignore if it's a conscious choice to make more dynamic the demo, but it left a terrible first impression)

+ Bad quality of life: Flashing before wild encounter, inconvinient menu navigation, louder background music during combats, when learning new move and choosing which to forget does not show new move, introduction tells you a control scheme and then it's changed

+ Glitches: Character bad tilemap alignment, collision bugs (I was able to surpass first ledge), walking while trainer has detected me, dialogue text overlapping, some music channels turn at the start of combat (probably beacause of looping music)


In conclusion, artist made a great job and I would like to follow their work, yet programmers and game designers leave much to be desired

Estou adorando o jogo, estou jogando sempre no meu intervalo do trabalho hahahaha, mas percebi uma coisa, estou jogando em um notebook, e os controles estão no W A S D e procurei e não achei a função de troca de botões para as setas ⭠⭡⭣⭢ então acabar ficando um pouco desconfortável até pelo fato de correr no shift e estar usando a mão esquerda para andar no W A S D, tirando esse fotor que é apenas um detalhe, o jogo está incrivél, pra uma DEMO, está maravilho os efeitos, a ambientação então, parabéns!!! O trabalho da quipe como um todo está de parabéns!

Started playing the demo last week or so. A few issues:

  1. There is a bug that that stops the HUD from reappearing sometimes in battles and requires a restart of the game. This needs to be fixed
  2. Some issues with certain areas of grass where pokemon appear to often (sometimes without taking an actual step)
  3. Having trouble seeing move descriptions in the battle HUD without going to check pokemon summary. Same when learning moves. Its pretty critical to be able to check move summaries when deciding to forget a move.

Great effort so far, keep at it!

So, the game is going on a good direction, but there are some bug like when you heal your pokemon mid battle and then the HUD disappears and I can't battle. Sometimes the game will crash randomly with a "Fatal error" but besides that the game is going in a good way and you guys should keep it up!

Hello, I had installed the demo the day it was released and everything was fine except that all of a sudden I can't launch the game without getting an error.

When i try to launch the game, it loads op to the Unreal Engine screen (or the screen with the console controller recommend), but then an error window pops up and i can't go any further. I have to close the game completely. Please fix this.
This is the message that appears on the error screen:

"Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running. Exiting..."

I believe my laptop has a good enough system to run the game, and I've been patient with the issue, but i dont know what kind of solution you can offer or what other details I should provide to get help. 

I'm a spanish-speaking user, so thank you in advance for any support or guidance.

The game looks Cool as Heck, I want to play it, but I keep getting this message: 'Never have I seen my Laptop have a stroke.' Is there any way to obtain a lower-quality version of this?

Im having the same issue too

Here's a list of bugs I've encountered: (I hope it helps with troubleshooting; I love the game so far!)

Game Crash: Way often than not, the game crashes while in battle, especially during the time you have to switch Pokémon.

Early game status effect reliever: having PSN early game is a nightmare, no way to remove it unless the pokemon dies and you revive it 

encounter rate: I guess everyone agrees it has to be toned down a bit <3

Loading screens: easing off the UI can help getting folks stuck and better loadtime ^^ 

Keep up the awesome work tho, cant wait for the full release

Love the game so far, but I agree that the encounter rate in grass is laughbly high. you can move 1 pixel and enconter another pokemon; or worse touch the arrow keys and get another encounter without moving

for some reason the game doesn't detect my ps4 controller?... which is weird because it works just fine with other games. such a shame, because from the very little time i've played i really like this game!

If you add the game to Steam and open there, it will work, I think. At least it worked for me.

So, when I start the game and hit new game it says pure virtual function being called while application is running and crashes. How can I fix this?

You can't 

after the 4th time of me trying it, it worked fine. got that error every time before that though

I don't know if other people had these bugs but here are mine in the first 10 minutes of playing. (I love this game very much so, the remakes i had been waiting for).

Bug 1: Combustion's attack (bounce) doesn't work properly it goes into the air but never returns too attack and locks you in a play where combustion is missing in attacking phase but in cinematic it shows combustion at certain angles.

Bug 2: If you have a dead/exhausted Pokémon out it will be the first in battle with this it will bug out the battle.

Bug 3: If in selecting a new Pokémon when one of your Pokémon is defeated, when pressing (select summary) the UI glitches out. (for now i switched from controller too Mouse and keyboard to get out of the summary and back too the Pokémon select UI)

Bug 4: i have too press save 2 times for a proper save.

For the rest i have not found anything else (this is just my view if other people have pointed this out Please ignore this post)

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!! 

The only issue I have is that when I beat an opponent and they choose they're second pokemon, then I choose the option to switch mine, then I choose not to swap my pokemon out, the game wont let me click off of the pokemon team screen.

Also, when i beat pokemon and/or trainers, and my character is in a weird spot or position in glitches and phases me through the ground and me makes me fall infinitely, resulting in me required to close the game and re open.

I'd love to see this game when its fully completed, the potential is amazing, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE POKEMON FAN MADE REMAKES IN THE FUTURE BY YOU!

Sadly, can't go further than the intro because my graphic card litteraly shut down twice (NVDIA geforce RTX 3070). I've played Monster Hunter Wild with high graphism 2 months ago so I assume that the game will need a "bit" of optimisation.

stuck in a limbo after catching dragonite soft resetted and everything but still pop up in the blank screen

Just a few things ive found as some help with the bug fixing. If your aware then this is unnesary, just some helpful feedback:

1. Boat Captain does not heal pokemon after battle

2. After swtiching another pokemon in from battle, sometimes that pokemon does not gain exp after winning a fight

3. When taking a pokemon out of its pokeball, sometimes the player gets stuck inside the pokemon, unable to move until putting it back in

4. The delibird Delivery screen requires you to use your cursor to change the amount of items

5. Sometimes when a move wasn't effective or did little damage in the first place, no damage was taken at all (This one could be an intended feature, im not sure, if it is, its kinda cool)

6. The restore function when viewing your pokemon party doesnt work

7. Sometimes I couldnt use a potion at all

8. Aqua ring somehow accidentally healed my pokemon even though it was used by the opposing one

9. I could have just gotten really unlucky but the grass encounter chance seems extreamly high

10. my last and personal favorite, i caught a psyduck and when i went to check it, i found that the game had filled my party and every single pc box with the exact same psyduck.

These were the most prominent glitches i found but the game is overall great. I love the story and different direction so far and the visuals are just magnificent. I hope this information helps out a bit and was by no means any slander twords this game, just some helpful feedback. I am loving this project so far and can't wait to play the full game!! To any readers who havent downloaded it for themselves, TRY THIS NOW.
